Understanding Compliance for Your Pool Enclosure
Since around 2020, the Swimming Pools Regulation 2018 requires Certifiers to follow this legislation when carrying out an assessment. This means pool owners must demonstrate that their pool enclosure has remained compliant since its construction. The key date is August 31, 2008 being the reference used in the Regulations. Without proof of continuous compliance, your Pool Inspector will need to assess your pool enclosure under AS1926.1-2012.
How will this impact your pool inspection?
It largely depends on whether you’ve maintained compliance.
- To satisfy the Swimming Pools Regulation 2018 compliance must be held continuously
- Does your record-keeping support an exemption for your pool?
- If you bought your property after 2008, you may lack the original records.
- Have you or previous owners made changes to the pool fencing since construction?
- Are there any records showing a failed pool inspection ?
- If so, this may affect your compliance status under Clauses 30 & 31. In these cases, your Inspector has no option but to use the current Standard for assessment.
